Marisa Thompson, MS, NCC
Licensed Professional Counselor

Accepting New Clients Soon

My name is Marisa Thompson, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I earned my B.S. in 2018 and my M.S. in Experimental Psychology in 2020 from Angelo State University, and went on to complete my M.S. in Counseling Psychology at Oklahoma State University in 2023. I have worked in private practice for the last several years helping clients with trauma, anxiety and depression. I work with teens and adults, and provide individual and couples therapy. In my last practice, I focused my work in PTSD and trauma, working with first responders and their families. Additionally, I have experience working in IOP programs with clients with higher acuity and dual diagnoses.

More than anything, I’m passionate about helping people feel seen, heard, and supported. I believe therapy should be a space where you can just be yourself—where you don’t have to carry things alone. It is my honor to walk alongside clients in their journey towards healing and fulfillment. I believe everyone is an expert in their own story and deserves to have the space where they can be themselves and be heard in their experiences. I work collaboratively with my clients to ensure they feel empowered, respected, and supported every step of the way. I aim to foster an environment where clients feel safe to express themselves without judgment, and where they know they’re not alone in facing life’s challenges.

I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges that individuals face when dealing with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, and trauma. I use a blend of therapeutic approaches and interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. I am advanced trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which is especially helpful for PTSD, depression, anxiety and phobias. I tailor each session with care and attentiveness, always taking into account the pace and preferences of each individual client.

As a counselor, my goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals who are struggling with emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health concerns. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their concerns, develop coping skills, and work towards positive change. I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership built on trust and compassion, where growth and healing are nurtured. I believe that everyone has the potential to grow and thrive, and I am committed to supporting my clients in their journey toward wellness and fulfillment.

Whether you’re facing something specific or just feeling stuck, I’m here to support you.
