First responder, military, and veteran life asks a lot — of you and of the people who love you. At Building Harmony Counseling, we provide confidential, non-judgmental therapy for first responders, military members, veterans, and their families. You do not have to carry it alone.

Who this is for

We support clients connected to:

• Law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatch, and related first responder roles

• Active-duty service members and military families

• Veterans transitioning from service or carrying experiences from deployment and military life

• Partners and family members affected by shift work, trauma exposure, deployments, and high-alert living

Common concerns include cumulative stress, trauma responses, anxiety, depression, sleep disruption, irritability, burnout, grief, relationship strain, and the challenge of “turning off” after the job or after service.

How we help

Our team offers trauma-informed individual, couples, and family counseling. When appropriate, we integrate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to address trauma and high-stress symptoms. Couples work can also address the unique pressures of shift schedules, deployments, hypervigilance at home, and communication under stress.

Above all, we offer a safe, accepting space where you are valued for who you are — without judgment of your beliefs, background, or the realities of the work and service you have done.

What to expect

Sessions are confidential within the limits of the law and professional ethics. You can meet in person at our office or virtually across Texas. Many clients prefer a therapist who understands first responder and military culture; our bios and specialties can help you choose a fit.
